Something in the Water: Second Massive Police Response in a Week
And that is really all you need to know about the domestic situation on Generation Drive that had police blocking traffic on Glade for hours yesterday afternoon. Police said the situation was not a barricade, but we're really not sure what else you would call it.
Update: And here we go again.
No wonder people are getting jumpy all over the Twitters and posting blurry cellphone photos like this:
Update: And now a body has been found in a basement storage room in the Springs apartments on Greywing Square. Seriously?
The body is believed to be that of a man in his 50s.
Update: Police say there does not appear to be any criminal activity involving the death.
Update: Police have charged the man involved in Monday's domestic situation on Generation Drive.
And given all this excitement, we hesitate to mention that police are also looking for this man, believed to be responsible for burglarizing 11 homes in and around Reston since April, including one this past Monday. Happy holidays!

See! I told everyone they're watching me!
ReplyDeleteI suspect that the RA will be investing in a couple of "Raven" drones before long. Much less expensive than indoor tennis, and the way things are going in Reston, much more useful. In addition to monitoring murder scenes and hostage situations, they would be perfect for keeping an eye out for DRB violations and rogue smokers on the pathways. I understand that micro-drones, which look for all the world like hummingbirds, will soon be available. These should appeal to the birdwatchers in our midst -- imagine, watching the birds watching you.
ReplyDeleteRA is not known for being subtle. I suspect therefore it will invest in a Predator UAV to monitor for violations. DRB standards enforcement through superior firepower!
ReplyDeleteWe need more "affordable" subsidized housing to be entertained by the news like this more often. Otherwise, life is boring.
ReplyDeleteIt was hovering over Reston Parkway and Bluemont this morning around 10am as I went to work in the Gritty Urban Core, then worked its way slowly down Bluemont. I didn't write down the number, but I was just black, no company or agency paint job. I wondered if it was Fairfax County trying out a new way to look for expired inspection stickers by flying slowly past parking garages...
ReplyDeleteThe helicopter apparently was inspecting the Dominion Electric power lines along the W&OD trail. It flitted from tower to tower in turn, hovering much like a hummingbird checking out flowers.
ReplyDeleteWith all this to-ing and fro-ing by helicopters, maybe it's a film shoot:
ReplyDeleteMauvepocalypse Now
The helicopter had markings: "Utility Patrol."
